Krakow, the former capital of Poland, can be considered, for some centuries now, the true cultural capital of the country. In its historic center, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco, there are the huge Rynek Glòwny Market Square, Wawel Castle, the Cathedral and Planty Gardens, and it is right here, among these streets and these historic buildings, where the main intellectual, artistic, university and tourist activities take life. In recent years, among other things, many different museums have multiplied hosting collections of important works of art. If you are willing to move only a few kilometers from the city, the former Auschwitz concentration camp and the Wieliczka Salt Mine are definitely worth a visit.
